This post was originally titled “Autumn”.  I am still here and still  I’m in awe at the transformation.  Daily I notice how incredible change is.  It is subtle and powerful.  It is snowing.

this is the part that always freaked me out. I love to see it from another’s point of view. It somehow was a death to me. (obviously I knew they would be back but it symbolised the long gray winter and the trees are somehow not there to get me through it.- Hand with the pines if you can. Make them your friends)

It is cool to see where the pines are…streaks of them across the way. And I can see where they are planted on farms. I’ll try to get photos of them, your friends. It is really great to be out in the fall, as it is a raring 70 something again today, so the doom to come isn’t apparent to naive little ole me. LOL. Just wait!

Fear not the Winter, Teal. After 30 years in So. Cal., I have spent the better part of the last five back here. I grew up right across the street from you at 58 Main. I always hated Winter, but now I prefer it over Summer.

I am in the hills, on the West side. In the Winter I can see the sun rise over the Eastern Hills. I can see far through the woods as there are no leaves on the trees. When the snow is on the ground, you see the deer & turkey as they travel through the woods. The intense heat from the wood stove can’t be beat.

Dress warm, layers, a hat and gloves and most days you’ll barely notice the cold. It’s the wind and extreme cold that’ll do you in. Those days are best spent indoors with a hot beverage, admiring the beauty outside.

Yes, we met a few weeks back. Love your website, photos, and blog. You are indeed an artist. I get a kick out of your appreciation of this area. I never thought to take a picture at the same spot, over a two or three week period, as the leaves changed color.

I have taken many photos when I would visit here, blow them up to 8 X 10s and hang them on my office wall in Los Angeles. When my coworkers would think of New York, all they could picture was New York City. One fellow, when seeing my pictures, asked, “what are you doing here?” Good question, I guess; I’m no longer there. Quite a contrast, living in the hills with no running water and the hustle-bustle of a daily commute between LA and Rancho Cucamonga.
